Not quite.
PhotoShop Express is a slick-looking little application, but it’s not PhotoShop by any stretch of the imagination.
In fact, it’s not a whole lot different in terms of features from Google’s downloadable application Picasa, which I’ve long recommended to novice photographers. Like Picasa, it offers a variety of editing functions that are easy to use, highly automated, and easily reversible. It also offers online sharing of photos.

The key difference, of course, is that you download Picasa once and work on your photos locally, then upload only those you wish to share online. With PhotoShop Express, you don’t have to download the program, but every photo you want to work with has to be uploaded.
It will be interesting to see how the beta version evolves. As an online application, PhotoShop Express certainly has an advantage over similar products, as you can upload and edit photos from a public computer. But don’t expect to get a free ride; serious photographers will still need the one and only full version of PhotoShop.
