The Sports Photo Guy

At last, the long-awaited release of Windows Vista SP1 and promised performance enhancements to this “Crap List” product are here.  Is it for real?  I installed the service pack tonight and ran some quick CF card tests.

Much to my surprise, Vista SP1 seems to be the real deal.  A quick test of the SanDisk Extreme IV 2GB card on the Lexar Firewire 800 CF Reader (RW034) showed a card-to-computer transfer rate of about 35 MB/sec (about 240x) — significantly faster than the 22 MB/sec (150x) speeds observed on the same hardware under standard Windows Vista.  Looks like I can finally post some real measurements under Vista — stay tuned.
