Deal Alert:D300 with 18-200 VR lens
April 10th, 2008 · 6 Comments
Nikon is offering a $300 instant rebate on the purchase of a D300 with an 18-200/f3.5-5.6G ED-IF AF-S VR DX lens when purchased from an authorized dealer through May 11. This is a fantastic deal, considering the 18-200 was selling for above-MSRP prices on eBay not all that long ago.

That really is a great deal – I paid full price for the combo and the two work very well together.

It’s an instant rebate, so if you bought this from an authorized Nikon reseller the rebate should have been reflected in the price you paid. If you bought grey market, you’re out of luck.

I just bought the D300 with the 18-200mm through Costco for $1999 – proof of the instant rebate. Received the camera and lens in 3 days via UPS. What I really wanted was the 24-70mm G-ED lens with the camera, but could not pass this deal up. Still looking for a good price on the 24-70mm, which I had initially wanted because of the touted superior optics in the lens. Comments ?

Also wanted to mention that BestBuy has a special on the SanDisk 8Gb 30 MB/sec CF card right now For $59.99. Picked one up, but wonder whether there are differences between read/write speeds for jpg/raw when we go from 2Gb-4Gb-8Gb cards. As in computer hard drives, do we/can we, need to re-org or reformat these cards to keep our read/write speeds to the maximum?
